This year for Give Big I wanted to share an organization that I believe in. Crisis Connections is a Seattle based non-profit with helplines that serve King County and Washington state.

Much of the work carried out by Crisis Connections staff and volunteers centers on suicide prevention and mental health support, peer counseling, and access to resources for food, shelter, and medical care. [To me this is particularly important because…].

Crisis Connections is working to raise $25,000 and recruit 30 new recurring donors by May 31 to continue supporting those who need us the most. Will you join us?

I remain in awe of the courageous callers seeking support, and the Crisis Connections’ volunteers and staff who give our neighbors hope. The need for helplines like 988, 211, and the Washington Recovery Helpline have increased exponentially in recent years. The programs of Crisis Connections have collectively answered the calls of more than 550,000 people in the last year.

I’ve decided to become a Crisis Connections Champion and I am committed to raising awareness of the programs bringing better mental health and critical resources to our community. I wanted to share an organization I love that I believe could be a valuable partner and resource for our team and organization.

Crisis Connections is a Seattle-based nonprofit that reaches hundreds of thousands in our community annually. They have multiple Help Lines and Crisis Lines, including 988, 211, and the Washington Recovery Help Line, as well as resource databases, support for First Responders on behavioral health calls, and information for Mental Health Professionals.

I care about Crisis Connections because…

I thought it could be good for our team to set up a Lunch and Learn with Crisis Connections staff, where they would join us for an hour to share available mental health resources, help us grow in understanding how we can support each other’s mental health, and ways we can get involved if people feel compelled to do so.

Crisis Connections is an invaluable support for so many in our community, and I’d love to see our team learn from and partner with them going forward. Let me know what you think, and I can help facilitate some time with their staff.
